Totally agree with Manson being missed, another thing missing from last year is the JJ-EJ pairing. Girard and EJ are too easy to play against, EJ just doesn't look sharp as last year and Girard is not going to push people out of the goal crease. Not exactly a punisher. . Maybe the minutes are catching up. Honestly, I would like to see MacDermid get some more minutes, at least he's physical. Good analysis !

Completely agree on your ASG take, and by the way, Joe Sakic was ASG MVP in 2004!

I have a Sakic sweater from that game.

Thanks AD on the write up about Manson and his missed contributions. EJ is a big guy, but not the physical player like Manson. I think EJ really needs to be back on the 3rd pairing. MacDermid played well last night and I like him better on defense than on offense. I think the Avs could benefit with some extra muscle. Someone like Schenn from Vancouver could add that muscle to the 3rd pairing. He only makes $850k.

Kaut along with Newhook is going the way of Jost. Lots of potential, but not a lot to show for it. Maybe both could use a change of scenery. I do think it is a disservice to Kaut to put him on the 4th line with another rookie and a d-man and expect him to score. Maybe switching him with O'Connor and getting him some minutes on a better line might help. Having O'Connor on the 4th line would definitely help that line.

We need to praise Cogliano and what he has provided this year. He is having his best offensive year since 2016 and 2017. He has been asked to score and has done better than all the callups combined.

It seems like they always need somebody to come back from injury to make things better. Lame excuse.

AD,

Agree 100% about Kaut. Has to contribute some offense. Newhook, too!!
