What an amazing piece and so sorry about Rick. He is and will remain one of my favorites. A no bullshit, "give me the fact" hockey guy, who I never doubted not once. I had no idea that you two were this close. I'm gonna pray for him and his family; it sure makes you reflect on todays Avs and hockey coverage, and your own mortality.
I witnessed many of the things you are writing about. The guy had an aura of kindness and non-judgment about him. This is a beautiful tribute, Adrian.
