Our black lab/Great Dane pups Allie and Scout will be turning 12 at the end of the month and I am dreading the inevitable end of their stories, but I couldn't stop reading. I am so touched by your love for Ellie and will use it as a reminder to cherish every moment we have left with our best friends 💕

Damn Pat, I’m VERY, VERY Sorry for the loss of your fur baby, We lost one of our cats a few years ago that we had raised from a baby, it was my very first kitten and her death hit me like a brick!!! It took awhile but I’m finally able to look at her pictures and not cry!!!

You and your family are in my thoughts!!!

I lost my best friend Malu on Saturday morning. He had what was thought to be a brain tumor that caused him to have seizures from time to time. He was on meds, but he slowly got worse over the past few months. After 5 seizures in one day after having none for 6 weeks, it was time. I’ve had dogs for years, but this one hit me especially hard. He was the family dog as both my kids grew from 9 and 7 to almost 20 & 18. I can completely understand your grief as I am going through the same. Grieve in your own way and at your own pace. I’m right there with you in spirit, Pat. - Glen

So so sorry Pat. I know how hard it is to loose a part of the family that only knows how to love. God put dogs on earth to teach us what Agape Love is. I would be so lost to lose Elsa, my Getman Ahepherd. Just remember, all dogs go to heaven!

My condolences Pat! My profile picture is of my best friend - my soon to be 6 year old corgi poodle Sherlock - in his "favorite" sweater...by that I mean that's it's my favorite sweater for him..burgundy and blue of course!

I must say I frequently think about how limited our doggy's time is in this world and yeah if we could we would all want them to live to 30 or 40, right?

I feel for you man! I feel for your family and of course I also feel for Ellie. It sounds like she was a terrific girl!

Stay strong! Never forget her and what she gave all of you. Lots of love from Sherlock, his parents and his 9 month old baby brother.

Am so very sorry, Pat. Having been through the pain you’re going through now with my 3 prior goldens, your words reinforce the deep love we have with our best friends. Talking about her life and fun times, as you are with your kids, really helps. Thinking about the great life you have given Ellie, you can be proud of that. As a big fan of your writing, your words once again touched me deeply. Wishing the best for you and your family.

So sorry to hear about Ellie, I know your pain oh too well, and as I look at my 17 yr old Aussie who got diagnosed with a terminal condition I know I'll be going be going through it again very soon. Pets become family and our love for them is magical but losing them just breaks our hearts. My motto in life has become "be the person your dog thinks you are". Find peace in knowing her pain is over, all my best to you and your family.
