Hey, they got a point at least. Last night, and couple nights before. But, only two of a possble four points were had on the first two games of this road trip. Tonight, the L.A. Kings are the opponent.
Avs lost the game last night because they didn’t work hard enough on defense, and were undisciplined when it game to the penalty box. Avs gave up 37 shots to Anaheim, which is just too many.
And, to top it off, Cale Makar didn’t play at all past the 17-minute mark of the third period, not in overtime and not in the shootout.
Jared Bednar said after the game that Makar is “dealing with something”
I guess we’ll find out more about what they something is closer to gametime tonight.
Let’s see if they can get two points this time, not just one.
More thoughts:
Blank, ineffective nights again from Jonathan Drouin and Tomas Tatar.
Bo Byram had a very good game, at least, with two goals and a plus-2.
Nathan MacKinnon - 7-for-21 on faceoffs (33 percent). For a guy who prides himself at how hard he works at his game, winning faceoffs seems to one dimension he doesn’t work as hard on.
Josh Manson credited with six hits last night.
I attended the game last night. What I noticed. The Avs defense gets complacent which coincides with soft goals. The first line several times were getting out worked for the puck while pinned in the defensive zone. The first line players minus Makar appeared to be gassed in OT. Mac and Rants attempts in the shootout were pretty pathetic. I expect to see an ugly game in LA.
Can one person tell me what Tatars role is on this team? He hovers back, tries to let the play come to him, and doesn't bring anything to his line. At least Drouin is taking shots and trying to elevate his game but I would scratch Tatar till he decides if he wants to play hockey on this team. Been a passenger way too long. We knew the penalty situations would eventually haunt them, way too many, and EVERY game. They are developing bad habits
