Why Can't The Avs Win Shootouts?
It's a vexing question
I can’t figure it out any more than you, probably. The Colorado Avalanche hockey club is 21-2-7 on the season, still on pace to set an NHL record for most points in a season. Of those seven game the Avs failed to get the extra point, three finished in overtime and four in shootouts.
In shootouts, the Avs are 0-4 this season.
How, with the leading candidates for the Hart Trophy (Nathan MacKinnon), the Norris (Cale Makar) and two excellent goalies (the Wood brothers), are the Avs so bad in shootouts?
