That’s the shortest amount of time Cale Makar and Devon Toews will be partnered on defense for the Colorado Avalanche. Well, of course, the Avs could trade either guy before the four years are up, but anyone want to bet on that happening? Didn’t think so.

Toews signed a seven-year, $50.25 million contract extension today - about 40 minutes after Dater On Avalanche reported that a deal was close. His $7.25 million AAV won’t take effect until next season, when the NHL salary cap is supposed to go up a healthy amount from the current $83.5 million.
