This might be the part where I’m getting too old or something. Latest case for that: my reaction to the fan and media reaction of the latest Avalanche trade, of Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood to Columbus for a second-round pick next year, a third-round pick this year and a guy named Gavin Brindley, who I guarantee you none of us reading this had ever heard of before today.
This is the part I don’t get: When the Avs get guys like Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood, they are “great pickups” of “great value” with “time left on their deals which makes them cap-easy-on-the-eyes. Then, when they’re traded, as they were today, it’s “Man, are we ever lucky we got all that new cap space today by getting rid of those contracts!”
