The NHL’s best defenseman gave the Avalanche an unforgettable ending to a game that just 20 minutes earlier seemed like a forgettable effort in yet another loss.

That was not the case, though, as the Avs turned a 2-0 deficit heading into the third period into a 3-2 overtime win Saturday night against the Oilers and in front of a national audience across Canada.

Let’s not beat around the bush: losing a sixth straight game would have sucked. It would have not only just been frustrating, but it would also have continued the mindset that teams/fans have when mired in a losing stretch. That mindset is that losing is expected because it’s been what you’re accustomed to. That ended tonight.

About darn time. (Sorry for the salty language.)
