About a year ago, I wrote about the project in New Mexico that our own Ted Grycel was attempting - a center for disadvantaged youth, with roots in religious faith.
After several big bumps in the road that almost derailed the project, I’m happy to announce that the Estancia Valley Christian Teen Center will open Sat., Aug. 17, in Moriarty, New Mexico.
Ted is the director and visionary behind the center, which will be free for kids in the area who need a place to go after school and on weekends or any other time. Several of you, my beloved subscribers, have helped Ted out with this project. He wants to extend a warm thanks to all. I want to thank those who have contributed as well.
“We want to give viable alternatives to drugs, crime and other paths that are leading to the overall downfall of our rural teen communities,” Grycel said, in my piece from last year. “Any activities they want to partake in require them to travel to Albuquerque, not only having to travel 50 miles or so each way, but the cost becomes prohibitive for families trying to get them involved with healthy activities.”
When kids feel they have a fun place to go, with things that are mentally and physically good for them, it’s something they will eventually gravitate to. It’s starting to happen here. But it’s always going to be a battle. But if we can give kids a place to play roller hockey or other sports and activities, with no cost to them, then it’s totally worth it.”
Despite many financial obstacles, Ted found a way to make this happen. If you’d like to donate any still-much-needed funds to help out, check out this poster and get in touch with Ted. As you all know, he’s a huge Avs fan and a big favorite of our live chats.
Thanks AD and all who have supported me and this project. Words can not relay how truly grateful I am to all of you! God Bless!
Wonderful write up in support of a subscriber fulfilling a great cause. Congrats, Ted! And kudos to all who have supported.
