Talking Some About Bednar (and MacFarland)
I hate sports media articles that ask questions in the headline, but don’t answer them in the story. It’s a cheap, clickbait way of reporting, and it exposes the writer as someone who has no idea what the answer is/will be.
If I were an everyday, traveling beat writer covering the Avs still, I would not write a story with no answer to a headline of “Will Jared Bednar Return As Coach?” I was taught by my superiors in the business that you’d better already know the answer to a story that asks such a big question as that, or don’t write anything at all.
So far, none of the everyday Avs beat media have written a single authoritative thing about whether Bednar will - or won’t - be back as Avs coach since being swept Tuesday night in Vegas in the WCF.
That’s not meant to be a huge swipe at them. If you don’t know, you don’t know.
I am not an everyday beat writer anymore, so I’ll give myself a break here for also not knowing if Jared Bednar will return or not.
