He’s 25 years old and already the all-time leading scorer (308 points) as a defenseman in franchise history. That’s pretty mind-boggling, really. That’s the fact about Cale Makar, though, who set the mark in last night’s 5-1 Avs win over Dallas.
You have to wonder if Makar will go on a tear now, after seven games without a point. I say yes.
I thought the Avs were in trouble in the first period last night, despite a 2-1 lead. They gave up too many good scoring chances. But, hey, Alexandar Georgiev actually came through with a big performance. Let’s hope he can go on something of a tear, too.
Avs are now 3-0-0 against Dallas this season, despite being two points back of the Stars still. The teams will meet April 7 in the season finale. Could be a big one.
Said Andrew Cogliano, who scored a goal: “Obviously they were on a back-to-back, so we wanted to take advantage of it as much as we could. I think they had a pretty good first period. They scored first but we were able to respond pretty quickly. I thought all parts were working good tonight. Defensively, it seemed like we were really strong in our end in the cycle and limiting chances in the middle of the ice, and PK too, big kills, power play gets one. I think all parts of our game were going tonight.”
