Although I’ve always hated watching preseason hockey, I do like to watch just pure rookie prospects go at it. And, today in Las Vegas, the Avalanche played the Anaheim Ducks in a Rookie Showcase game, winning 5-3, and these are my main takeaways:
I think forward Matthew Stienburg impressed me the most for the Avs in the game. The former Cornell product was strong on the puck, I thought, and he even won a brief fight in the third period.
