The $17 million per to Kirill Kaprizov supposedly reset the marketplace for top-scoring players in their 20s, a cohort to which Martin Necas belonged. Chris MacFarland probably got a sudden case of acid stomach at that news.

But, hold the phone. Then, Connor McDavid signed an extension for $12.6 per over two years. Jack Eichel signed an eight-year extension for $13.5 million per. Market, reestablished!

As much as Necas and his agent, Michael Deutsch, would love to use Kaprizov as a “comparable” toward an extension with the Avs, it’s now become clear that a) Wild GM Bill Guerin was either high on crack or something similar in agreeing to that deal or b) Kaprizov has incriminating photos of Wild owner Craig Leipold somewhere.
