Some Avs Thoughts

OK, so I’m changing my mind on the MacKenzie Blackwood deal. He looks like a No. 1 goalie to me. I still don’t like that the Avs gave up Nikolai Kovalenko and a second-round pick next year as part of the deal - along with Alexandar Georgiev - but it’s clear the Avs feel much better playing in front of B-Dub (my nickname for him moving forward) than they did Georgie.

That’s my top thought today, though there are several others and several are critical:

• I hope people realize how serious the situation is with Mikko Rantanen. As the most knowledgeable Avs fans on the planet (my readers), you almost certainly do. But the fact that Rantanen has maintained that he won’t address his contract until after the season is done - news I broke in October - will become a bigger elephant in the room the closer things get to the NHL trade deadline.
