So, It's The Wild
And why the Avs will win
The overriding question I have is: will the Avalanche have a dangerously anti-climactic feeling in the next round, against either Utah, Vegas or Anaheim?
Because, yes, the Avs are going to beat the Minnesota Wild in this upcoming second round, which some are calling something of the true Stanley Cup Final. Not sure I agree with that, as Carolina looks like a pretty damn good team to me over in the East.
But, yeah, arguably the two best teams left in the playoffs will now face each other in the NHL’s crazily-constructed playoff format. It’s like that scene in “Cast Away”, when the toughest part of Tom Hanks’ mission in getting off the island is getting that rickety handmade raft over that first big couple of waves before getting gently out to calmer seas.
I think the Avs win in five.
Yes, five games. Five probably close games, but five games. This team is too good for the Wild. The offensive depth is too much, the top four of the Avs’ defense is better than the Wild’s, and Scott Wedgewood has been superb all season.
