Regular-Season Finale Tonight With Playoffs on the Horizon
Avs sweep Alberta and prep for Seattle and whoever in Round 1
Here we are… the morning of the final day of the season.
For the Avalanche and Kraken, that means one last ride tonight at Ball Arena in the late game, closing the book on the 2025-26 regular season for the entire league. By the time the third period rolls around in Denver, we should have a clearer picture of who Colorado will host in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, likely beginning Sunday.
Will it be the Kings, Ducks or Oilers?
Because of course, the reward for winning the Presidents’ Trophy and putting together a franchise-best season could be a date with the two-time defending conference champions — led by a generational player still chasing his first Cup — and potentially featuring a top-five player in the world returning from a well-timed rest.
Fun!
So we wait tonight to find out if it’s SoCal or NorAl.
Until then, there’s still one game to play and a pair to revisit after Dater and I have spent the last few days either busy or asleep at the wheel. Possibly both.
