Okay. There was no immediate recap to the game in Nashville. Was there really a need for one, though? (I meant to post this on Sunday, but Dater had a trade deadline story up right before it, so this gets pushed back even further.)
It was just “one of those games” in my opinion. What do I mean by that? From the drop of the puck, sometimes you just have a feeling that it wasn’t going to be the Avs’ night. Is that a cop out? Probably. But that’s how I felt.
If you remember, I was mad after the Maple Leafs game because the team played a different game in the opening 10 minutes than the remaining 50. We had a chance, seemed like it was ours to lose, and then we did, in fact, lose.
In Nashville, it never felt it was the Avs’ night and I resigned to the loss early. That’s my analysis: just wasn’t our night. No puck luck, bad coverage in the defensive zone, bad goaltending, poor transition game on the breakouts... It just wasn’t happening for us. And the 5-1 loss was the deserved result.
