Preseason: Gabe's Back. Young Guys Score at DU. Top-6 Score at Ball.
Avs win pair of preseason tilts vs. Utah.
Two weeks from now, I, like you, will be sitting down to the event that I look forward to longer than anything else all year: NHL Opening Night.
Do I look forward to it more than anything else? I don’t know, it is just a regular season game. Maybe the start of the postseason, I guess. But there is nothing I think about longer than the first game of the season. It’s finally the end to the worst time of year: summer.
When the Avs take to the ice at Staples.com/Crypto Arena on Tuesday, October 7, it will have been 157 days between meaningful games for the boys in burgundy and blue. That’s almost half a year!
I now understand how my wife feels when I talk about our team’s speed through the neutral zone or Cale Makar’s underrated defensive ability from October through May. I understand because — for the last two weeks or so — she has informed me of the plot and all the finer details of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty.’ If she feels for more than seven months year after year the way I did for the last two weeks… I have some serious apologies to make to that saintly woman.
