Happy New Year. Goodbye 2023, and good riddance. I don’t like writing about myself as much as I (admittedly) used to do too much, and yet, well, this is kind of my own site so of course it’ll be personal at times. As far as 2023 goes, it won’t go down as my favorite year. Just a tough year, much of it because of health issues. Things look much better moving forward now, so let’s leave it at that.
For 2024? I’m optimistic about the Avalanche. I haven’t really wavered on this. While I have pointed out some concerns and issues of late, I still have a feeling this is going to be a Stanley Cup-winning team. They are officially my pick to win it all next spring/summer.
No team can match the Avs’ talent and depth on defense. Makar, Toews, Byram, Girard - nobody can top that. Then, you still have Josh Manson and Jack Johnson (and, yes, I know Manson is often a top-4 guy and Girard is a 5-6. My point remains).
