I hadn’t been in Ball Arena for about three years until yesterday, and yes it was something I was kind of nervous about before going in, for the Avs’ game with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The first look back up to the press box was something I was nervous about. The hundreds of nights I spent in that thing, the people, the memories…it was going to be something of an emotional moment, I knew. And, it was.

But, thanks to all the great friends/subscribers here on this site, it was made a whole lot easier and, in the end, a very fun experience being back inside the arena, watching the Avalanche.

For those of you who didn’t know: we had a subscriber meetup of sorts at the game yesterday. About 10 people or so, not including myself, arranged to meet up before the game, go to the game and sit together, and exchange goodbyes when it was over.

Ted Grycel, who many of you on this site know about, helped organize it all. Subscriber MC, a wonderful woman, a retired nurse, arranged to buy tickets for everyone in the section she often sits for games - section 354. I also got to meet subscribers such as Ian Berman, a great guy who flew all the way from New York for this, and a buddy of his. I got to meet Christian Dufour for the first time, a longtime subscriber who hails from my native New England. I got to meet Dr. Will.

Ted brought along his granddaughter and another friend, who is a student at the University of Mines.

Here’s a picture of some of us in the stands, with MC right behind me and Ted right behind her, to the left.

It was a great day, and I want to thank all of them for helping make it happen. I know there are many of you who didn’t get to come, so let me switch into reporter mode here and describe some of the day:
