Remember when I said yesterday that I wasn’t working the Valeri Nichushkin “when will he be back?” story too hard? Yeah, well, you all know me as a guy who wants the story first, so after consultation with a few people I can confidently report this:
Nichushkin will be back before the end of the regular season, after missing time because of enrollment in the NHL player assistance program. Take it to the bank.
I don’t know exactly when he’ll be back, but he’ll be back.
As I wrote yesterday as well, with the Avs knowing one of their top forwards will be back, I believe it will be a pretty quiet trade deadline this season. Yeah, I do think the Avs will try to add a goalie by the March 8 deadline, but that might just be it.
Nichushkin (and maybe Gabe Landeskog) will be the Avs’ big deadline/playoff additions. At least, that’s the hope.
So, let this good news tide you over for the night, O ye Avs fan.
That is the best Avalanche news I have heard all day! GO AVS!!!!
Thats five top six Wingers w Kovalenko. Landy sould be six. Gotta feel good about this! Avs really need a C, even if not 2C, rental IMO.
