I guess some of my harder edges came out last night, with my take on the Avs-Pens game. I’m not going to apologize for anything, because that’s how I felt and that’s who I am.
But, yeah, it’s just a game and maybe I did get a tad overheated. I don’t know, there’s often been something about the Penguins that brings something out of me. I personally can’t stand it when Ball Arena is full of visiting sweaters, and that’s the way it was last night, at least in much of the primo seats down low. There’s nothing wrong, of course, with transplant fans wearing their team’s colors. Nothing at all. It’s just annoying to the home folks, that’s all, lol. I’ll give Pittsburghers credit. They travel well.
It’s always annoyed me, too, that the Penguins have essentially tanked twice to get two of the greatest players ever, Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby, and that many in the Pittsburgh fan and media base have always bragged how loyal the fans have been. Uh, I saw with my own eyes how empty the Igloo was for years in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, and how they almost moved a couple of times.
I still maintain that the Avs should have responded in way to Jeff Carter, after his blindside elbow that put Cale Makar out with a concussion. But maybe I’m just too old fashioned and, whatever, it’s over now.
And, I also realize the Avs are missing one of their meanest players, Josh Manson, and also the captain, Gabe Landeskog. I’m sure either of them might have given Carter a good bump or two last night had they played.
