My Thoughts On Avalanche Trade Deadline
It's fluid
The NHL trade deadline: Ahh, memories. Not all of them good.
When I first started covering the NHL/Avs in 1995, Twitter didn’t exist. Not for another 12 years, in fact. As a “respected journalist at a respected newspaper”, we couldn’t just throw out every rumor we heard. If I wrote anything in the paper about a possible trade, I had to undergo a grilling from at least one, often two or three, editors at the Denver Post before they would even let it appear in ink.
Most of the time, even if I had been proven right in the end about the rumor I was hearing and wanted to write, they wouldn’t let it in the paper.
Oh, how quaint!
Now? All it takes to be a well-read hockey media person is to throw out every single rumor you come across, and to make up some of your own. But I’m not going to go down the “Get off my lawn” rant here. That’s the way life is now in the news business. Deal with it.
Most of my predictions won’t come true here, but this is honestly what I think is going on with the Avs and Friday’s NHL trade deadline, and what might happen:
