Dater and I have a deal worked out. I am really only on the hook for about one story a week since I have a full-time job, I coach my own hockey team and two young kids that need to be carted around to numerous extracurricular activities. So we came to the agreement that I would write when I can and more of weekly summary pieces than game recaps.
And so with our annual trip to Boston covered in Sunday morning’s piece, you’d think I’d be good to sit back for a few days. But you would be wrong because there are few things in this world that I love more than beating the New York Rangers.
So when Colorado escapes Manhattan with a thrilling victory against both the Rangers and the referees, I made sure to carve out some time this morning to take pen to paper (fingers to keyboard, really) to jot down some of my thoughts on Sunday’s matinee inside the world’s most overrated arena.
I understand that the sample size is very small, but I did tell you that everything will be okay in the wake of the Mikko trade. Two games in and that looks true. Jack Drury gets Colorado on the board first with a masterful redirect in the slot and Martin Necas picks up his first helper in an Avs sweater shortly thereafter with an awesome drop pass to Cale Makar for his first of the afternoon.
