MacKinnon Scores OT Winner as Avs Overcome Shaky Goaltending vs. Isles
Nathan MacKinnon: Good. Alexandar Georgiev: Bad (at least tonight).
Let’s get something out of the way right away: there is no better hockey player in the world RIGHT NOW than Nathan MacKinnon.
His game-winning overtime power-play goal didn’t prove that… it cemented it.
The NHL’s First Star for December didn’t waste any time in making a case to claim the award again in January with a three-point performance including the winner on his patented power-play one-timer in the first game of the New Year.
But if all the praise heaped on the Avalanche for such a great 60-minute performance is warranted (it was), then why did MacKinnon’s goal come at 32 seconds of overtime instead of regulation in a dominating victory?
