MacKinnon Helps Avs Escape Ducks' Late-Game Push
Three points from the team's top center helps Avs to a homestand-opening win.
Remember in The Mighty Ducks 3 when the Ducks team (now playing as the Eden Hall Warriors JV team… for some reason) had a 9-0 lead in a game and ended up playing to a tie after Charlie Conway missed the empty net in the final seconds?
No? Ok, well for those who aren't scholars of The Mighty Ducks movie like me, that was a plot line in the very forgettable third installment.
The Colorado Avalanche didn’t have a 9-0 lead Tuesday night against the Anaheim Ducks, but they did nearly blow a three-goal, third-period lead, hanging on to win 3-2 at Ball Arena. That near-collapse comes just days after blowing a 3-1 first-period lead to the same Ducks team in Anaheim before falling 4-3 in overtime.
It’s not all doom and gloom, because the Avs did win the game in regulation in the end. And eventually the JV team did go on to take down the Varsity team in Eden Hall’s annual showdown between the two. That was a shocking result, considering the JV team was made up completely of players from the US national team who would upset hockey-power Iceland to win Gold at the 1994 Junior Goodwill Games, while the Varsity team… played varsity hockey.
But I digress…
