One of the cliches I hate the most is “the first game back after a long road trip is the toughest to play.” I’ve always been like, “Why?” Shouldn’t it be one of the easiest to play, especially when you’ve had a couple of days off, gotten some good rest, and are playing in your own barn, where you know the angles and little things better?
Anyway, I’m sure that will be one of the things people trot out tonight if the Avalanche don’t beat the Washington Capitals at Ball Arena.
The Avs will take their 5-game win streak into this one, and Darcy Kuemper is the likely starter for the Capitals (I’ll update this if that’s not the case). I’m sure he’ll get a very nice round of applause from Avs fans, and a very nice video tribute during the game.
