Gabe Landeskog's return was bigger than the Game 3 result.

He made it back.

There were moments over the last three years when I believed a night like Wednesday would come. But there were far more days when I accepted, with a pit in my stomach, that we might never see Gabriel Landeskog play another NHL game.

And yet, against all odds, he did make it back.

The Dallas Stars — as they so often do — ruined the moment. A 2-1 overtime loss took a bit of the shine off the moment. But in the broader arc of this saga, we’ll remember the starting lineup more than Tyler Seguin’s goal.

If you’ve watched Clean Sheet, you know what Gabe went through to reach this point: the countless hours in the gym, the flights crisscrossing North America for second and third opinions (at his own expense sometimes), the rehab setbacks, the creeping self-doubt.
