It's Time To Get Excited About The Avs Again

The Avs' checking and defensive game is back, and two great D-men are soon to return

I know that the Avalanche beat up on a pretty down-and-out team in Vancouver last night, a team with a lame-duck coach and players who seem to want out.

But regardless: I thought Colorado’s 4-1 win last night was one of their most impressive showings of the season. And, for me, it all has to do with defense and forechecking.

Both areas were excellent last night and have been for the last several games. The Avs, to coin a coaching phrase, are “on pucks” again - and that’s really how they won the Stanley Cup last year.
