On a night with an avalanche of action league wide, the Colorado Avalanche continued to roll downhill and taking anyone in their way with them.
The latest team to fall victim to a less-than-whole Colorado squad was Seattle on Tuesday night. Sure, the Avalanche still have three of the league’s 10-best players, but the lack of veteran presence, combined with an influx of youth making their NHL debuts led to an 0-4 hole early on this season.
That hole is now a thing of the (recent) past, however, as the 3-2 win against the Pacific Northwest’s newest NHL city was the third straight for the suddenly surging Avs.
It may have been a one-goal game on the final box score, but that was only the case` thanks to a Kraken goal in the final seconds, which was nothing more than a delay to Colorado’s postgame congratulatory handshake.
It was also fitting for Seattle to finish strong as it had begun the game with a pipe in the opening seconds off the initial puck drop. Just minutes later, the Kraken hit another post and it seemed like it was a matter of time before the home team would find the back of the net against Justus Annunen.
That didn’t happen.
