Depth Scoring Comes Up Big in Win vs. Wild
Colton, Drury and... Kylington(!?) put up big nights in divisional win.
Another night. Another five goals. Another home win.
So it’s four points — with a goal of 12 — two games into this homestand as the Avalanche defeated Central Division rival Minnesota, 5-2, Friday night.
In a game between two teams battling one another in the standings, usually it’s the players in the opposite uniform that sparks the intensity in the game. But on this night, it was referee Jon McIsaac who lit a fire under Nathan MacKinnon. A missed slashing call caused Mack to lose focus ever so slightly to inform the official of his failure to perform his duties with such gusto that it sent him to the penalty box for two minutes.
The 2020 Lady Byng didn’t register a point after the “Abuse of Officials” minor was assessed, but you could see a fire in him not to allow Minnesota to crawl back from the 4-2 score at the time. And they never did.
