I’ll feel good when the final horn sounds on the fourth win of this series. Until then, I will always have a pit of stress deep in my gut.

But the final horn on the third win sure helped.

Eight games into the postseason and just one loss. And how did the Avalanche respond to that loss? Well, after Saturday night’s 5-1 drubbing in St. Paul — and after I ruined Mother’s Day for my wife by being a miserable jerk — Colorado bounced back Monday with a dominant performance and a 5-2 win.

Sure, the anchor on SportsCenter reminded all the NBA fans tuning in afterward that the game was “a lot closer than the score indicated.” And he was right… to a certain degree. Yes, the Avalanche hit two empty-netters in the final minute, with Nathan MacKinnon (empty-net merchant!) and Brock Nelson each padding the lead into a netminder-less net.

But make no mistake: the Colorado Avalanche dominated this game.
