Dater: Worries About Georgiev Get An Early Start
No, the Avalanche didn’t get enough from lines 2-4 last night and, no, their play with the puck in their own end was sloppy at key times in the game. But let’s not try to explain away the Avs’ 8-4 loss any further. They lost because they were hugely deficient in one area: goaltending.
“Every mistake we made tonight ended in the back of our net. Literally, almost every one,” Avs coach Jared Bednar told the media after the game.
There was no “Hey, he gave us a chance to win” or “We didn’t do enough in front of him”-kind of alibi by the coach for the goaltending. It was more like, to reframe his words some: “If we make one mistake out there, we’re screwed.”
