Things just seem a little…stale…don’t they?
The record is now 2-5 in the last seven games, after tonight’s sulfurous performance against the St. Louis Blues at a quiet Ball Arena. Alexandar Georgiev has a save percentage under hockey’s “Mendoza Line” of .900. Artturi Lehkonen is out “weeks” with an upper-body injury. Jonathan Drouin remains stuck at one point on the season despite playing on a line with Nathan MacKinnon and Valeri Nichushkin against the Blues tonight.
After that spirited win over the Devils, the Avs have followed that up with home losses to the Kraken and Blues. Jared Bednar remains stuck at 299 wins. The Avs are in danger of having their first losing month since Feb. of 2019 - 29 straight winning months.
I’ve got some thoughts on why things didn’t go well tonight and haven’t in general for the last couple of weeks:
I’m still not truly “worried” about this team. Well, not clutching the pearls totally just yet. But about Georgiev: yeah, a little worried about him I guess, and here’s why:
