There is a reason that we pay to follow you and Pat. You both call balls and strikes! That is why I prefer Substack to any other media. You keep it real!
Sports, what a grand diversion. Hockey, what a grand sport! Adrian, you are the GOAT. I moved to Denver in 1994 and was there with you for all of it. A big part of the sports experience is having someone like you report on the good times, the bad times, beat the bushes, get scoops, provide inside information, share your insights, deride our least favorite teams alongside all of us, and be a window into the Avalanche world. Of course one of the hardest parts of your job was enduring those media buffets 😆and sharing tidbits of the road hockey experience with us - things like the famous Forum Hot Dogs and many others i enjoyed hearing about but have since forgotten. Seriously though, just like you grew up with and saw sports through the eyes of favorite scribes that you idolized, you are our favorite scribe, up there with the best of them. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do.
What a day! What a game! And AD, damn the haters…full speed ahead!
For the record, I’m glad you were wrong about Nuke. Thanks for giving us the benefit of your expertise. Also, when I hear the phrase “fever swamp of the internet,” I think of Reddit. I don’t think I’ve ever come away from that site better informed about anything worth knowing. My point? Don’t be surprised when those who happily inhabit a sewer throw shit.
Criticism often comes from those who are inexperienced or envious. I love following this blog because you still have amazing insight and connections. Kadri even said he heard the deal AFTER the trade deadline. Other outlets reported it wasn’t happening. Clearly it was down to the wire so probably changed from start to finish. Whatever the case, don’t let the assholes get you down. We love you!
I love the fact that you report what you hear, it's what makes you Adrian Dater. It gave us something to argue about, whether we want Nuke traded for Kadri, and honestly, it helped pass the trade deadline waiting game. People are going to throw stones, because somehow it makes them feel better about who they are, they would rather read a one paragraph article from so called hockey experts that have no business writing about hockey. I can't beleive the flack you got for being an honest reporter and trying to bring us breaking news. We love you AD, kept writing about what you hear and we will continue to read it. Your the best!
That's me that said on Twitter that you had nailed it. I meant about Kadri coming to the Avs, should have clarified that. How do you feel about Naz being back with the team?? And about what the Avs gave up to get him?
Hey Dater, we totally get you, don’t take those comments from the peanut gallery seriously, those young snowflakes don’t know a thing about hockey. Their team goes down by a goal and they want to fire the coach immediately🤣, they need someone to blame for their ineptitude. You made it clear the trade was an option in the title of your piece but they have no common sense. Anyway, what a miracle trade by McFarland, again. He needs to win GM of the year Award for all he’s done and the Nuke ends up being a huge reason we won that game against the Stars, what a night! Go Avs!
