Dater: Let's All Now Root Against Canada For Snubbing Sakic And Bednar
Good ole boy system alive and well
I saw the team picture of the Canadian men’s Olympic team today, and immediately was triggered by the sight of Kyle Dubas and Rick Tocchet.
Kyle Dubas is a member of the Canadian team upper management, and Joe Sakic is not. Rick Tocchet is a member of the Canadian team coaching staff, and Jared Bednar is not. Let those two facts just swirl around in your brain for a while.
My goodness, who the hell decided Kyle Dubas was better qualified as a management person than Joe Sakic??? Not only is Super Joe a Canadian Olympic HERO (2002 MVP in Salt Lake City), but he has a Stanley Cup ring as a general manager and is the current team president of the team with the best record in hockey.
Dubas, who helped hand the Avs the Cup in 2022 by trading Nazem Kadri to the Avs for Tyson Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot, presided over a Maple Leafs squad that only once got out of the first round of the playoffs (out in second round). In August of 2023, he took over as GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins and presided over teams that failed to make the postseason his first two years on the job.
