Was everybody just a little worried about today’s Gabe Landeskog press conference at Ball Arena? Try as I might, I did not know beforehand what the “news” would be, so I was just like the rest of you.

But I didn’t think it would be a retirement announcement. There were a couple of clues as to why not. The presser was billed as Landeskog and Avs GM Chris MacFarland at the podium. Normally, when players hold a retirement press conference, the GM isn’t on the announced guest list like that. Just the player. Of course, the GM would be there, along with most everyone else in the upper reaches of team management.
