Dater: It Ain't Over
Funereal: “describes something that relates to, resembles, or is suitable for a funeral. It is most commonly used to describe an atmosphere, mood, or sound that is sad, solemn, and deeply gloomy.”
Webster nails it again. That’s exactly the feeling I’ve had about the Colorado Avalanche hockey club since Sunday night. I suspect I’m not alone.
And yet, as a rabid fan of one team, the Boston Red Sox, I do know what it feels like when a team comes all the way back from a 3-0 series deficit. 2004 ALCS, Yankees, the Curse is over. Still can’t believe it.
And, really, I had even more of a funereal feeling before Game 4 of that series. The Sawx hadn’t won it all since 1918, don’t forget, and many believed a legitimate curse was on the team and would never be broken.
Yet, it happened.
Can it happen with the 2026 Colorado Avalanche?
Of course, it could. Just get a win tonight, get it back home for Game 5, win that and…. maybe….
A lot of people have made the observation that the Avs seem to have lost any belief in themselves after that horror show of a collapse in Game 3.
First off, I hate any armchair psycho-babble from alleged “experts” in the media. The sports writer/podcaster/whatever working for “RandoDenverSportsSite.com” has zero idea of anything, and is just lurching around for theories to fill up the infinite whitespace of their sites.
