I don’t know about you, but Game 2 had a “letdown” feel to it for me, the second Gabe Landeskog was suddenly announced as a healthy scratch - only minutes after Landy was listed on the official NHL lineup sheet as being in a game for the first time in nearly three years.
I’ll let “Scratch-gate” play out later, but writing here just minutes after the Avs’ 4-3 overtime loss to Dallas tonight, I can’t help but feel the Avs not only lost momentum in this series - they lost momentum with their mysterious lineup decision before the game.
If Jared Bednar’s intent was to play a mind game on Dallas with skating Landeskog in the pregame warmup, only to yank him at the last second, it didn’t work. And, the only minds it played tricks on were with Avs fans, who were as excited as I’ve seen them in a long time when it seemed like Landy’s return was imminent.
