I give Chris MacFarland credit for really going for it this year. When GMs don’t go for it, they get criticized. When GMs go for it and don’t get it, they get criticized. MacFarland knows this.
I think he made some really good moves this season, foremost among them getting MacKenzie Blackwood (and Scott Wedgewood) to solidify the goaltending. I still think the Mikko Rantanen trade could work out in the long run, though it’s not looking as hot of a deal right now, is it?
But the deal that brought Brock Nelson to the Avs? It has the potential to go down as one of the worst trades in team history.
