I wanted to make this a rip job column on the Avalanche, a team fully healthy down 2-1 in the series to a Dallas Stars team missing their leading goal scorer and best defenseman.
But how do I rip a team that’s led in every game for, like, 98% of the time or whatever it is and had possession of the puck 54% of the time, according to Natural Stat Trick? I think the defense has limited the Stars’ scoring chances to a negligible number and MacKenzie Blackwood has a .923 save percentage so far. The Avs are getting a decent number of shots per game and I think the effort has been, overall, fine.
So how the hell are they down two games to one, with their season basically on the line tomorrow at Ball Arena?
