Consistently Inconsistent: Avs Drop Road Game to Hawks
Lifeless Colorado team falls to league-worst Chicago squad.
About a week ago, Dater wrote a column about the Avalanche’s upcoming schedule and how seemingly easy the stretch appeared contrasted against the rest of the season’s slate of games. Some might point to the jinx that Dater seems to speak into existence with tweets and written pieces, but three games into the eight he referenced, Colorado is just 1-2-0.
The second of those two regulation losses came last night in a 3-2 road defeat to Chicago. A disinterested Avs team scored twice in the opening frame with Valeri Nichushkin tucking both home on the power play. Other than that: lifeless effort for most of the game.
Battling for the top spot in the Central Division with the teams chasing you having games in hand, while taking on a team two points clear of the worst in the entire league and you don’t show up? Unacceptable.
This was supposed to be a game recap, but it’s going to be more of a step-back-and-view-the-whole-thing piece.
So let’s start by stepping back from the ledge… Okay, that’s better.
