Did the Colorado Avalanche break the Buffalo Sabres?

Well, not in the sense that the players’ will to play is gone three games into the 2025-26 season. But the fans? They appear to already be at their wits’ end just three games into a new campaign… with the same result as the last 14 years looming on the horizon.

In the midst of Colorado’s postgame celebration at KeyBank Center, a Sabres jersey came flying over the glass and onto the ice, the most telling sign of frustration Buffalo fans can give.

What makes this wild, and worthy of mention, is that this happened after three games. Scoring just twice in three games is bad enough, but coupled with a decade and a half of futility, it’s either unacceptable or completely expected.
