Avs Sweep Homestead with a Pair of Shutouts
Colorado took care of the Blues and Philly this weekend.
The biggest sporting event of the week for any team from the City of Brotherly Love ended in heartbreak Sunday in Denver as the Avalanche took care of the struggling Flyers, 2-0.
Philadelphia’s inability to score any goals as of late was met head on by Colorado’s inability to allow any. The Flyers’ scoreless streak reached three games, while Colorado posted back-to-back shutouts to sweep the mini two-game homestand following a 5-0 drubbing of the Blues on Friday night.
Head Coach Jared Bednar had challenged the team following a 1-2-0 east coast swing to play this homestand as if it were a pair of playoff games. To say they respond would be an understatement. Because there is nothing more telling of a team ready to play postseason games like one who can put on top-to-bottom defensive team efforts like the ones we watched this weekend.
