Dater might be better suited to write this as this type of coverage is not my specialty. He’s been covering the team for three decades and has a better eye for these types of moves and what they might mean for the team moving forward than I do. For all major moves ahead in the next few days, I’ll defer to him. But since I’ve also been outspoken on my view of Kurtis MacDermid, I figured I could handle this minor move.
That being said, one thing jumps out at me with this move: roster and cap space.
