We were one puck-off-skate-fanned-shot away from a perfect night as the Colorado Avalanche absolutely obliterated the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-1, on Friday night. Maybe the only saving grace in Columbus’ early 1-0 lead thanks to Damon Severson’s goal four and a half minutes into the game was this contest now goes down as a come-from-behind victory, extending the Avs’ league-leading total to 24.
Everything that followed Severson’s tally off the inside of his skate boot was dominated by the boys in burgundy and blue. At one point in the first period, the shots on goal read 4-4 on the score bug. At the end of the game, they read 51-24… and that 24 was even misleading as Colorado took its foot off the gas in the final minutes to allow the Jackets a few more chances.
