That is not the case anymore. Especially this season. And especially for the mighty Colorado Avalanche.
What used to be a win a week in advance now takes until the clock hits all zeroes... or overtime.
That continued to be the case Sunday night as it took the entire 60 minutes for the Avs to dispatch the Coyotoes, 4-3. The term “battle” gets thrown around loosely in sports metaphors and even more so in hockey than other sports based on the physicality of the sport.
But tonight was a battle. A grind. A great game. At just the right time, too.
