Avs Notebook: Why Sakic Didn't Play In Alumni Game
We’re getting closer. Training camp a couple weeks away. Can you believe that? It’s been a loooong summer.
As many of you know, I can’t stand watching preseason hockey, so I don’t truly wake up from the summer until Game 1 in October. But training camp battles can always fill the time well.
That said, I don’t see many true “battles” ahead. For me, if Sean Behrens makes the big club or not will be my top question of camp. The rest of the roster seems pretty set to me.
So, well at least we did have some hockey the other night, at Magness Arena. The Avs alumni vs. the DU alumni. How fun was it to see Peter Forsberg in the burgundy and blue again? And, Milan Hejduk and John-Michael Liles and Dan Hinote and Shjon Podein and Andrew Cogliano and…Peter Mueller.
It was interesting to see him out there. He could have had a great career with the Avs, if not for the concussions that started from a big hit by Rob Blake, when Blake was a Shark.
Joe Sakic was advertised as being a player for the game, but it didn’t happen. Why?
