Avs Notebook: New McDavid Extension Could Help Team Signing Necas

Two years, $12.5 million AAV for Connor McDavid. That was the price of his new extension with the Edmonton Oilers this morning.

Now, I know for a fact the Avs are never going offer Necas more than $12.5 million per on his next contract. But what the McDavid taking a hometown discount does is bring a little sanity back to the market. The market was turned upside down with that $17 million AAV for for Kirill Kiprizov a few days ago, and guys like Necas and his agent were probably salivating over that deal and what it meant for their future.

But now Chris MacFarland can say to Necas “So, you’re worth more than Connor McDavid now?”
