Avs Make Doug Armstrong's Olympic Goalie Choice Look Even Dumber
30-2-7
I got nothing against Doug Armstrong. I only talked with him in a few scrums over the years, in his roles as GM in St. Louis and Dallas. Seemed like a nice guy. Gave thoughtful answers to questions and didn’t duck tough questions.
But, to me, he symbolizes what still plagues the NHL. In my opinion, he’s part of a good ole boys club that still wields too much power in decision-making processes. To wit: His selections for the Canadian Olympic team. More important, the selections he didn’t make.
I really don’t know how you justify Jordan Binnington as a choice in goal for the Canadians. Yeah, I get it that Binnington won a Stanley Cup - seven years ago. Yeah, I get it that Binnington was a leading light in Canada’s Four Nations thing last year.
